### Eric Rozen — The man behind Out Soon

In the early 1990s, as Belgium was becoming one of the most important centres of electronic music in Europe, **Eric Rozen** launched a project in Brussels that would quickly become an essential part of the scene: **Out Soon**.

Passionate about clubs and electronic music, Eric Rozen saw the need for a media outlet capable of covering a scene that was growing rapidly — clubs, DJs, labels, events and new musical trends. In **1992**, he created Out Soon, initially as a small fold-out newspaper dedicated to the emerging House and Techno sounds. The first copies were distributed directly in Brussels clubs and record shops.

The concept quickly evolved. Out Soon became a free magazine, published in both French and Dutch, covering the entire electronic music and nightlife culture. Over the years, its pages featured DJs, producers, labels, clubs and events, as well as the technological developments shaping the scene.

Under Eric Rozen's direction, **Out Soon gradually became a bridge between the different players of the Belgian electronic music scene**. At its peak, the magazine was distributed in around **50,000 copies per month**, in clubs, record shops, bars, restaurants and other venues frequented by the electronic music community.

Throughout its existence, Out Soon documented the golden age of Belgian club culture and captured an exceptional period in the country's musical history. The magazine published interviews, reports and features on the artists and movements shaping House, Techno and the many forms of electronic music.

In total, **169 issues** of Out Soon were published before the magazine came to an end in **2008**, after almost sixteen years dedicated to the electronic music scene.

Following Out Soon, Eric Rozen continued his career in the fields of culture, photography and media. In **2012**, he founded **Hipstography**, a project dedicated to mobile photography and photography created with the Hipstamatic application.

Today, the work surrounding Out Soon represents an important archive of Belgian club culture from the 1990s and 2000s. In 2026, Eric Rozen is involved with Koen Galle in bringing this archive back to life through the project **Out Soon: 1992–2008**, a book bringing together a selection of documents, photographs, covers and archives from the magazine.
