His remarkable journey began in 1985, at the heart of Belgium’s legendary nightclub culture, where he quickly made his mark behind the decks at iconic venues such as Cherrymoon, Extreme, La Rocca, Globe and Boccaccio.
In 1992, Yves released his debut single, “Animals”. The track quickly became a Belgian club anthem and launched him onto the international stage. From that moment on, his energetic sets took him to some of the most influential EDM festivals in the world, including Mayday, Energy, Love Parade, Street Parade, Nature One, Trance Energy and Sensation Black.
His international breakthrough came with “Rave City”, a release that stormed the German charts and marked the beginning of an extraordinary period of creativity. A series of iconic tracks followed, including “The House Of House”, “The Rebel”, “Calling Earth”, “Back To Earth” and “Final Fantasy”, helping to define the unmistakable sound of 90s European EDM.
In 2019, Yves experienced a remarkable resurgence when a new generation of leading techno DJs, including Charlotte De Witte, Amelie Lens, Peggy Gou, Nina Kraviz, Umek and Thomas Schumacher, revisited and played his timeless classics. Their support introduced his music to a new audience and once again placed Yves at the forefront of electronic music.
Today, Yves Deruyter remains a true legend of the scene and is the driving force behind his own techno label, YDR Records.
